In the UK, the‘Developing Matters’ regulates early years children’s 7 areas and 17 goals of learning and development. Combining with the formative and individual assessment, this comprehensive learning and development goal has enabled the UK to lead the world in early childhood education for 20 years.

在英国，“Developing Matters”（发展目标）涵盖了幼儿在学前教育阶段发展的七大领域以及17个发展目标。***的学习与发展目标结合形成性的个性化评估，使得英国的早期教育水平20年来一直处于***的位置。

In China, we also have early learning goals ------ ‘Guidelines for learning and development of children aged 3 to 6’ (The Guidelines). Based on the Chinese context and drawing on the experience of other countries, ‘the Guidelines’ has positively affected the development of Chinese children in preschool since 2006.

我们***也有属于自己的学前阶段幼儿发展目标——《3-6岁儿童学习与发展指南》（以下简称《指南》）。《指南》立足于中国国情，并借鉴多国经验，自2006年颁布以来，与时俱进，积极影响着中国娃在学前教育阶段的发展。

Crowndream aims to introduce high-quality British early childhood education into China and cultivate international citizens. Thus, we need to combine the ‘Developing Matters’ and ‘The Guidelines’. However, it is challenge for us to put them together in practice.

冠萃教育旨在将优质的英式早期教育引入中国，培养具有中国情怀的国际小公民。因此无论是“Developing Matters” 还是《指南》我们都不能割舍。但是将二者结合起来可不是一件容易事。接下来，跟随萃宝一起来看一看，在融合的过程中又存在哪些挑战呢？

In order to better practice the British early childhood education, we hope that our teachers can directly refer to the original text of "Developing Matters" in the design of courses and the assessment. Therefore, teachers in crowndream have taken lots of time and energy to translate the “Developing Matters” to ensure professionalism and accuracy. Moreover, we also utilised some vivid samples to support and interpret the goals for the convenience of parents and teachers.

为了践行原汁原味的英式教育，无论是课程的设计，还是课后幼儿学习和发展能力的评价，我们都希望教师能够直接参照“Developing Matters”的原文。为实现这一目标，冠萃EYFS教研中心核心团队花费了大量的时间对“Developing Matters”进行翻译。翻译听起来容易，但是既要抓住原文的精髓，又要保证内容的专业性，还要使表达通俗易懂，***再配上生动的例子加以支撑，让老师和家长们一目了然，业界人士都知道，这项“工程”的难度系数还是很高的。

As we all know, most of the Chinese children aged 3 to 6 receive the early childhood education in kindergartens. It is worth noting that the EYFS services the children from birth to 5, which means that children start to learn in the primary school at the age of 5 in the UK. Based on this, therefore, during the process of landing in China, there is a blank in the learning and development goals of children aged 5 to 6. 

我们都知道，中国娃的3-6岁阶段都是在幼儿园度过的，大班毕业也就是6岁以后才开始崭新的小学生活；而在英国，EYFS服务的群体是从出生到5岁的幼儿，5—6岁的幼儿已经正式进入小学阶段。也就是说， EYFS的“Developing Matters”在落地中国的过程中出现了5-6岁年龄段幼儿发展目标的空白。

In order to better adapt “Developing Matters” to the Chinese context and preserve the characteristics of England as well, teachers in crowndream extracted the learning and development goals of children aged 5 to 6 from the “National Curriculum” in the UK, and referred to the requirements of 5 to 6 years old children in “The Guidelines” in China, finally, formed the new learning and development goals module of children from 60 months to 72 months and over. 为了更好地适应中国国情而又不失英国特色，冠萃EYFS教研中心经过了长时间的研究、调查、论证，基于中国5—6岁幼儿的发展水平和特征，结合英国的小学阶段***课程纲要、并整合中国《3—6岁儿童学习与发展指南》中对5-6岁幼儿的发展要求，同时考虑了新的时代对即将升读小学的中国娃们提出的新需求（如英语的听说读写能力、数学、语言、科学等学科能力的掌握等），在传统EYFS“Developing Matters”的基础上新增了“60个月到72个月及以上”的学习和发展目标板块，生成真正适合中国国情的EYFS早期教育发展目标。看到这里，家长朋友和中国的EYFS课程盟友们是不是很兴奋呢？

“Communication and Language” is one of the most important areas in “Developing Matters”. It is worth noting that ‘Language’ is also the main difference between Chinese and British children. The differences between language directly impact on the setting of learning and development goals. Teachers in crowndream reviewed these goals according to the professional second language acquisition literature and their rich teaching experience. Finally, the goals about language have been classified into the “mother tongue” and “second language” to improve children’s bilingualism.

“交流和语言”（Communication and Language）作为EYFS发展目标七大领域之首，其重要性不言而喻。但是，语言也是中英幼儿之间***主要的差别。语言的差异直接影响着学习和发展目标的设置。例如，在英国，针对22-36个月（2—3岁）的幼儿在关于“说”的发展目标之一是“会使用不同的疑问句进行提问，例如：What, Where, Who”，但是对于大部分母语为中文的中国娃来说，在3岁能使用英文的特殊疑问词来进行提问是一项巨大的挑战。类似这样的问题和例子还有很多，冠萃EYFS教研中心结合大量的第二语言学习参考文献以及研究者们丰富的一线教学经验，对这些目标进行重新审视、判断、筛选，***把它们分类为 “母语”和“第二语言”两个发展模块，让中国娃们的母语和第二语言二者发展齐头并进，“一个也不能少”。

Besides, some language goals are expected to be achieved by English, but we need to consider the age of Chinese children to reach these goals. We also extracted the language requirements for all age groups from “The Guidelines” and added them into our new revised “Developing Matters” to better support the development of children.

此外，还有一些目标我们希望幼儿可以使用第二语言完成，但是达到这些目标的年龄对于中英两国的幼儿是要有区别的。例如：英国22-36个月的幼儿被要求“开始使用词语后缀，例如going中的ing, cats中的s”,我们认为这一要求需要中国娃也使用第二语言达成，但是将达成的年龄要求从22-36个月调整为了30-50个月。同时，我们还不忘把《指南》中涉及到母语语言能力发展的指标加设到各个年龄段中，让我们的孩子得到更***的发展。

After overcoming numerous challenges, the new revised “Developing Matters”, which has both the Chinese and British characteristics was born! By using it, the British early childhood education can really take root in China and cultivate more excellent Chinese children.

经历了层层管卡、克服了重重挑战之后，具有“中国特色”的EYFS“Developing Matters”就诞生啦！有了它，英式早教才能在中国真正地落地生根，培养出更加***的中国娃。
